If you’re shopping for a cash rewards credit card, parsing through your options can be overwhelming and stressful. There are hundreds of credit cards out there, and it’s hard to identify the great deals from the bad.
The information about the HSBC Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card has been collected independently by CreditSoup.com. The card details have not been reviewed or approved by the card issuer. Please refer to the Issuer’s website for accurate pricing details.
One of the options you may have come across is the HSBC Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card. But is it right for you? Find out below.
Rewards
The HSBC Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card allows you to rack up rewards quickly. You’ll earn 1.5% cash back on every purchase you make, and there’s no limit to what you can earn. To put that into perspective, let’s say you spend $5,000 this year on purchases. Thanks to this credit card, you’d get $75 — that’s free money — back in your wallet.
As an additional perk, you can earn an introductory 3% cash back on all purchases in the first 12 months from account opening, up to the first $10,000 in purchases. And, each year, you’ll receive a 10% anniversary bonus on all cash rewards that you earned. If you earned $500 in cash rewards, that means you’d get an additional $50.
Benefits
While much of the card’s value rests in its rewards program, it offers some valuable benefits, too.
- MasterAssist: If you need assistance with pre-trip planning, or trip issues like lost luggage, MasterAssist can help.
- Master RoadAssist Roadside Services: If your car breaks down within the U.S., roadside services will help you get back on the road.
- Travel Accident Insurance: Get up to $1 million in travel accident insurance.
- Extended Warranty: This perk will extend the manufacturer’s warranty on eligible purchases.
- Purchase Assurance: This benefit covers most purchases from damage or theft.
- Price Protection: Price protection refunds the difference if you see an eligible item advertised for less within 60 days of purchase.
Terms & Fees
There is no annual fee for the card, and no foreign transaction fees, making it a smart choice for travelers. There’s also no additional fee for cards for authorized users.
There’s also a 0% introductory APR offer for new purchases and balance transfers. You’ll get 0% APR for the first 12 months after you open an account, giving you more than a year to pay off your debt or finance a large purchase.
3 Alternatives to the HSBC Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card
While the HSBC Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card offers valuable benefits and rewards, it may not be the best choice for everyone. Here are three alternatives that may be a better fit:
1. Discover it® Cash Back
With the Discover it® Cash Back, you can earn up to 5% cash back in rotating spending categories, such as gas stations, wholesale clubs, and Amazon.com. If you spend outside those categories, you’ll earn 1% cash back on all other purchases.
As an added bonus, Discover it® Cash Back will match the cash back you earned during your first year on your cardmember anniversary. That can give you a cash bonus worth hundreds, increasing the value of the card.
In addition, there is a 14-month introductory APR of 0% on new purchases, giving you time to pay off pricey purchases. There is no annual fee.
2. Chase Freedom Unlimited®
With the Chase Freedom Unlimited® card, you earn an additional 1.5% cash back on everything you buy (on up to $20,000 spent in the first year) - worth up to $300 cash back! After your first year or $20,000 spent, enjoy 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Travel℠, 3% cash back on drugstore purchases and dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery service, and unlimited 1.5% cash back on all other purchases.
You also can get 0% intro APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases. That gives you more than a year to enjoy the introductory APR offer. After that 15-month period ends, an APR of 20.49% - 29.24% Variable applies.
Even better, there’s no annual fee, so there’s no cost for carrying the card.
3. Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards Credit Card
Like the Chase Freedom Unlimited® card, the Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards Credit Card card allows you to earn 1.5% cash back on all of your purchases, every day.
Be automatically considered for a higher credit line in as little as 6 months. Monitor your credit profile with the CreditWise® app, free for everyone.
