Halloween will be here before you know it! Your kids want the most scarriest or unique costume to compete with their friends; but your budget says no. With the cost of groceries and household bills, there's no way to afford a new costume. How do you get them what they want, you may ask? It's simple: budget and thrift it! CreditSoup has three solutions to your costume dilemma.
Borrow From A Friend
Finding costumes can be hard. What's not hard is asking your friends or family if they have something specific you may be looking for. Borrowing a costume is budget friendly and can be returned when finished using, thus reduces the need to have to store it somewhere.
Thrift It
That's right. Thrift stores, such as Goodwill, Savers, or your local small town thrift shop are superb places to scavenge for those one of a kind costume finds. And for pennies on the dollar, you will more than likely find several costume options at the price you'd pay buying one brand new!
Save Your Costumes
If you're wondering what to do with those extravagant costumes when you're done with them, SAVE THEM! Stash them in a tote for years to come. If your kids have school events, dress-up days, school plays, etc., you'll be prepared!
For example, even though my daughter may have grown out of something, I still save it. If my friend has a kid looking for something, I very well may have something for them. This will come in handy for future needs. And if I happen to have a costume party coming up, I don't have to spend a dime. I can mix & match to find a new costume from the stash.
Last Ditch Effort
So, you're not one to save things, and aren't all that thrifty or creative. You've decided to purchase that costume. Don't forget about those credit card rewards! If you're spending the money, you may as well be getting a little bit back! CreditSoup has some options.
