This week's Frugal Friday is a real gut-check - make your OWN Coffee! Why spend money & time in the drive thru, when you can bring it from home.
How much does it ACTUALLY cost?
The average American spends
$2.28 per cup of coffee. Let's do the math.... if there are 260 work days in a year, times $2.28/cup, you are spending $592.80 a
year on that cup of joe.
If you choose something a little more than just your black coffee, say something from Starbucks;, get ready to almost double that number. According to a recent article from realmenuprices.com, that coffee from Starbucks can range anywhere from $2.25 - $4.95 each. Now, I don't know about you, but if I realized I was spending in upwards of $1,200 a year on coffee (yes... gut-check time!), I would re-evaluate my spending habits.
It costs more than just Money...
Yes, I said it. Going out for coffee or stopping to pick some up in the mornings cost TIME as well as money. Therefore, you're not only dropping money on that expensive habit, it becomes a time waster too. It may only be a 5 minute wait for that wake-me-up serum, but you also have to take into consideration the time it takes to get there and back. Ask yourself these questions: Do you have to leave early in the morning? Do you have to take an extended break away from the office a bit? Those are a couple things to keep in mind as well.
If you're fond of a special brew, there are several machines out there that can assist you in your morning routine. Thus, you not only save time, you also save money. Keep following us here, at CreditSoup.com for more tips on building credit and saving money!
