Credit services may promise or guarantee instant credit repair but keep in mind, if it sounds too good to be true, it generally is. Repairing bad credit is never an instant process; these offers will generally end up costing you money with their hidden fees and potentially harming your credit even more. The best way to repair credit and build a solid financial foundation is by taking the following steps:
- Do the research. Pull your credit report every year and do a credit check.
- Do your homework. Understand your credit score and credit debt.
- Do follow through. Be responsible by staying on top of your bills and debts.
Look to the FTC to provide additional information on credit repair scams.
