Getting credit with no credit or limited credit history can be very challenging, frustrating, and may even seem impossible. There is no magic solution to erase bad credit. There are several credit cards, that if used responsibly, may help with establishing credit history, repairing bad credit, and building up a credit score.
Look for credit cards specifically designed for limited credit or no credit, such as secured credit cards or prepaid cards. Be sure to review the terms and conditions of the credit card you are applying for so you are getting what you are looking for and understand any additional fees that may apply. Try not to apply for too many credit cards, as this can actually do more harm than good to your credit. Once you activate a credit account it is extremely important to pay the credit card bills on time to avoid putting your credit in jeopardy and increasing your interest rates.
Keep in mind that building your credit report does not happen overnight; it might actually take at least 6 months or longer before you see improvement in bad credit. Once your credit score is up to at least 650, you may consider applying for a new credit card that is designed for consumers with fair credit or even a loan.
