Buy Clothes at End of Season

Buy Clothes at End of Season

If you're like me, you don't pay full price for anything, including clothes, unless absolutely necessary. And, by staying thrifty to save a buck or two, we might suggest buying new clothes at the end of the season. Thrifty Thursday talks about diving into those deep discounts of shopping for new clothes!

If your size doesn't change much, stocking up on clothes at the end of the season is a great way to save money, and have a good supply of new clothes for next year.

Best Times To Buy

By January or February, you will notice stores start discounting their cold-weather clothing. Jackets and winter gear often start to go on sale around this time. If you have kids, now is the time to replenish missing hats & gloves, as well as buy the next size up for snowpants & coats. Tennis shoes also tend to go on sale in January when people are looking to get going with their New Years resolutions.

August is when you'll find swim suits, shorts, sundresses, and sandals on sale as summer is ending. Retailers don't typically like to have to backstock last year's styles, so they try to push them out at heavily discounted prices.

Jeans typically go on sale in October after the school rush has died down.

Want or Need New Clothes

Do you need new clothes or just feel like you want a new wardrobe? Readers Digest offers some great insight. The following checklist will help you determine if your closet needs an upgrade or not.

    1. Your key wardrobe pieces are damaged, stained or worn out.

    2. You’ve changed sizes.

    3. You have an upcoming event that requires a new dress, jacket or shoes.

    4. You’re heading back to the office and need to swap out your loungewear sets for business casual pieces.

    5. You’ve been wearing styles that date you, and it’s time for a wardrobe update.

If you've met any one of the 5 criteria listed above, you more than likely need a few new pieces.

At The End Of The Day

Staying Thrifty and not over spending is definitely attainable. You have to remain diligent about not buying things you don't need and watching for the right time to buy things you need at a discounted price. Why spend $100 during peak shopping season when you could buy the same things at 70% off at end of season?
