CreditSoup's weekly Thrifty Thursday tip discusses looking for low cost activities! School is out for the season & the kids will be home all summer. If you are on a tight budget, what a better way to save money and keep those kiddos occupied & off the electronics, than by searching for low cost activities!
Entertainment At Home
That's right. Keeping your kids occupied at home and finding fun things for them to do can be a struggle at times. Here are a handful of ideas to keep them busy.
• Go for a nature walk.
• Set up an obstacle course.
• Make microwave s'mores.
• Make a painters tape race track.
• Play hide and seek.
• Arts & crafts. If you've already got the supplies at home, painting is a great way to get those creative juices flowing.
• Scavenger hunt.
• Water Fun! Run through the sprinklers. Have a water fight with balloons or super soakers!
• Have a picnic in a park.
• Collect Leaves.
• Draw on the sidewalk.
• Trampoline.
• Bird Watching.
Field Trips
If they're itching to get out of the house, and out of the yard for that matter, then scope out some local attractions. Make a certain day of the week "Field Trip Day."
Local Activities
You may have to work all day, and the kids are probably bored and blowing up your phone by now. Take advantage of your town's local hot spots.
• Visit the pool.
• Take a trip to the park.
• Go for a bike ride around town.
• Grab a fishing pole and go fishing.
• Fly a kite.
Fun for the Whole Family
Your kids haven't hardly seen you all week. You miss them, they miss you. Spend some time together as a family. Here are some ideas for those special times!
• Have a movie night. Check out your town for free movies.
• Head to free festivals in your town and surrounding towns.
• Board games.
• Go to a Farmer's Market.
• Go hiking or go for a sunset walk.
